Los Angeles based Skaggs came to our attention at Jalapeno Towers by dint of a familiar sounding bass line on one of his tracks that he asked us for permission to use.

Use it you can Mr Skaggs and by the way do you have a record deal? No? Great – here you go. Happy days all round.

The track comes complete with a remix from his partner in crime Lonely Boy. The original is atmospheric hi tech future funk with the kind of swing we were always going to dig. The remix takes the track in a deeper direction with a bleepy groove but retains the magic that made the original such an office favourite.

Kraak & Smaak confirm that 2013 has already been assigned to them as their year with this stone cold anthem. The Future is Yours, with the vocal talents of Ben Westbeech features a remix package with Tom Trago, Futurizm and Ambassadeurs. With support coming in across the board from the likes of Pete Tong, B Traits, Monki, the Magician and Solomun’s DIY crew, the excitment is building for the boys new studio album.

Dimitri Nassios is no stranger to fans of the funk having released on the highly respected Freestyle Records as Q Orchestra and with Basement freaks as Smokey bandits.

Under the Quasamodo name he has teamed up with singer Thaliah to deliver some killer soulful beats. Can’t Hold Me Down is a gloriously sunny and upbeat number. Shame it’s snowing but hey it’s summer somewhere. Change is Strange also features Thaliah and is a more laid back and low slung number.

The rest of the EP is funky beats delivered by a young master of the game. Son of Shaft has a familiar ring to it and Funkenstein is a pure heads down groover. At Jalapeno we never forget where we’re coming from and when funky music like this come across the desk at jalapeno Towers we are always on the case.

After whetting the appetites of the bass crew with his “Around The Block EP” – Featurecast steps up to the plate with his first full single and remix package for Jalapeno in the shape of “Ain’t My Style”.

REMEDY REMIXES

D’Steph continues her run of killer singles with a serious remix package of her track Remedy.

Remixes on Remedy come courtesy of Makossa & Megablast – 2 of the most exciting producers to emerge from Kruder & Dorfmeisters G-Stone label. Taking the vibe back to a 90’s garage jam their quality shines though. Also throwing in a rewind style-wise is emerging UK producer Breakz whose remixes are clearly influence by early hardcore and jungle tunes and have been gaining him a serious online following. This is one of his first official remixes but a clear indication that he is one to watch. Finally, Bristol bass don Parker completes the set with a stuttering and growling bass house offering.

Jalapeno Records are re-issuing Dr Rubberfunk’s debut album, ‘The First Cut’, making this the first time it’s been available in digital formats in some 10 years or so since its initial release on double LP and CD. The good Doctor put together this ‘Executive’ mini-mix way back then as promo for the album release. Featuring tracks from ‘The First Cut’ mixed with b-side cuts from the 12inch singles that preceeded it, and thought he’d share it again in the run up to the re-release!

Kraak & Smaak present Mixed Feelings – a collection of brand new tracks, remixed highlights from their Electric Hustle album and the cream of the remixes and collaborations they have worked on. Plus some free downloads too!

The dutch boys have been on a continuous upward curve since they first broke out of Leiden with their debut album Boogie Angst and have never looked back since, playing massive shows at the cream of the worlds festivals from Glastonbury to Detroit Movement and DJ’ing at the world’s best clubs. Mixed Feelings includes the killer remixes from Electric Hustle by Solomun, Lovebirds and Psychemagik as well as an album exclusive remix by Max Sedgley of the K&S track Forget About You featuring the legendary soul man Lee Fields on vocals. The boys have been slaying dancefloors with their club facing Kraak Beats series and three of those bombs are also included before the album finishes with the Kraakers anthemic remix of Moby – the Day.
